Still Alive, Part II

This may be tempting fate, but here goes...

After my last post, I got worse. I got a fever of 102.9 on Sunday evening and ended up having the answering service page my surgeon. He wanted me to come back in to the hospital then, but said I could come see him Monday morning. Dad, just back from his 2-week walking trip in Oregon, was great and came all the way out to Duvall to pick me up and drive me into Seattle. Unfortunately, I got sick in the car about halfway there. Sorry Dad! :-( We stopped at his place in Bellevue so I could change my clothes and then continued in to Seattle, where I was pronounced dehydrated and still fevered (about 101). By 10:00 a.m. I was checked back into Swedish. *sigh*

After two days of lots of IV liquids (the first two bags were 'wide open') and a mega-dose of steroids, I was actually doing well! My fever went away and I actually started to get hungry!! So they sent me home on Wednesday, where I've continued to get better. I still sleep a lot, but I have energy when I'm awake, and I even managed to eat almost half of a medium thin crust pizza tonight.

I'm taking an extra week off of work because of all this. It's definitely not a time to push myself. :-) So, I'll keep resting and eating and getting better, and I'll go back to work on 5/22 if my doctor OK's it.
