I wonder if I made the right decision, she was such a strong cat, maybe she could have survived the initial clot attck.
There was no one to greet me when I came home last night. I still slept gingerly, not wanting to kick her by accident in my sleep like I used to.
And this morning, there was no one to wake me. Usually, she hears my alarm, and meows a long rrrowrr?, a lilting, questioning meow telling me it's time to wake up. Or if I was slow to respond, she would come and lick my face until I got up.
God, her fur was as soft as a rabbit's, I loved petting and kissing her.
Jack slept in the empty cat carrier all night. I wonder if he understands at all what is going on.
Looking back, I should have seen the subtle symptoms, she was cold (poor circulation) and would sleep in the sun or in my coat. In the past, she has had a sudden unexplained limp, and would shake her paw every now and then when there's nothing on it (minor clots that she may have passed successfully). I wish I had paid more attention to those signs and checked her out for cardiac problems. Maybe there's something I could have done.
