Obviously, I've been far too busy writing to get on here and post. Or not. Actually, I did a lot of writing in May, although I did not write a story a day for the entire month. June has been spent doing rewriting on some of the stories I wrote in May. Some of the things I wrote will never see the light of day (especially the Harry Potter fanfic and the melodrama poem). But I like some of the stories a lot, and I'm working on getting them into shape to start marketing them.
Actually, I've already marketed--and sold--one of them. My poem story Reflections: The Mirror Speaks (which I finished on May 3rd) just came live today on Enchanted Conversation, a fairy tale webzine. This issue of the magazine focused on Snow White, and was an all-poetry issue. All that poetry I wrote in April helped a lot in helping me to finish this poem. And I'm almost frightened to admit that it's the first poem I've ever tried to sell--and I sold it. I know there are poets out there who've been writing poetry all their lives, and didn't do anything like that. So I hope I don't get a lot of hate mail and bad thoughts from "real" poets. I remain--and probably always will--a prose writer. I enjoy writing poetry, but I'm not passionate about it like I am about prose. So, people, take a look at my poem
here and see what you think.
Another thing I've done this month is get myself a domain name. My new website,
http://juliahwest.com went live just a few days ago. I've taken much of the content from the website I've had for fifteen years, but cleaned it up, modernized it some, and updated it. I'll be adding new content soon, and hope to sell ebooks and perhaps audio books of some of my stories eventually.
