That was my initial reaction, which is why I found this blog post so interesting: that's not what white people look like. It's not what Asian people look like, either. It's just a person with eyes and a mouth and we see them as white because that's what we're used to.
I'm not very knowledgeable about the traditions of manga, however, and I don't want to accidentally dismiss something legitimate as ethnocentrism. Do you perhaps have some material to illustrate the whiteness of manga and animé characters?
