THIS IS WHAT WE HAVE PLANNED AT MY JOB:
We've worked out some of the details for next week and I wanted to share them with you.
At 5pm CDT on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, we'll have some type of contest. One day it could be milk drinking, the next maybe watermelon eating, the next hot dog eating, etc. We are going to let you guys pick the contest and we'll include Orlando and SLC (they'll be having their own too). It'll be 4pm in SLC and 6pm in Orlando and the idea is to have some fun but not detract from work. We'll also have cold beer and a margarita machine in the cafe during these days for your enjoyment.
For Friday we are going to have a catered lunch of brisket and the normal side items. We're renting 2 huge 40'X120' tents since it will be hot, and we'll have some giant fans to circulate the air. The band, the food, the tables and chairs will be under the tent. We'll also have some bartenders as well and basic liquor and mixers for different drinks, in case you are tired of beer and margaritas...
We'll be entertained musically by Second Street (www.secondstreetband.com), who many of you know as "Alonso and Matt's band". Here is Matt's brief description:
"As Don Pride said when he heard Second Street, "You guys play all the stuff that's on my iPod!" So, that means Don's iPod has everything on it from Journey and Bon Jovi, Def Lep to Led Zep, Green Day to Guns and Roses and everything in-between. Except for lead singer, Carla, the band is made up from people right here at a la mode. Whether you want to bust out your best dance moves or simply have some good tunes while you drink responsibly at the party, you'll have fun with Second Street."
And if that's not enough, we are going to have 3 "events" on Friday too - a dunk tank, a tryke relay race course and a bouncy boxing ring. We will have a few scheduled events, like getting Officers, EVP's and VP's in the dunk tank, or watching Farley beat the crap out of Sean in the bouncy boxing ring, or watching a relay race between tech and sales. In between those times, you guys can dunk whoever you can con into getting in the tank and set up your own contests. This way we have some hilarious pre-planned events, but also time for spontaneous fun as well. It's going to be a whole lot of fun.
Once we have our schedule locked down, we'll get it out to you. I think it's safe to say the party this year will be the best ever.
P.S. Due to the shear number of employees and the space we have, this party will be for *us* only. It's not that we don't want to see your spouses or significant others, it's just that we don't have the room to accommodate more guests. We'll have another party later this year that will include them, so no fear.
