i think it's time for a novena.

4 more weeks of temping has just turned into 8.  This is Week 4 and I just found out.  I've started the Sales Assistant job (at a pay cut because the temp job pays less), and honestly, I don't really like it.  It's basically a glorified secretary / trained monkey position where anything that goes wrong is blamed on me (the monkey).  And the people I'm working for are salespeople working on commission, which isn't exactly my bag of donuts.  The 4 more weeks of temping has actually bought me some time to look at this other position in Research (slightly trained monkey again, but less secretary and receptionist).  There's a longer story behind this, involving HR withholding my resume because I interviewed for Sales Assistant, etcetera.  I got everything to light today, and now I'm more confused than ever.

I never signed my offer letter--didn't know it existed until another Sales Assistant asked me about it last week; same day I found out that once you sign that, you can't make a career move within Cox for a whole year.  So, yeah, I'm very glad I didn't sign it yet (even though my start date was supposed to be in a week).  I'm not so glad that I won't have better pay and benefits for longer than I thought.  I think I'm gonna hop back on Monster and make a few calls to friends tomorrow to see what else is out there.  I have no reason to stay at Cox if it can't meet my needs.

I can see why people get burned out by corporate America.
