"Just one thing...I married Nick last night."
------------
"Married!? I just saw you yesterday! Where in hell can you get -- Oh My Goddess. Las VEGAS. That scourge of the desert, that neon nightmare? Grace! I'd expect this of Nick, he's rich, he has no ethics or values. But you, you! How could you...well, admittedly, it is a very appropriate place to tie the noose."

“What? No, it's 'tie the knot’!””

“A noose is a knot, as you should well know.”

“Why should I -- wait. Since when are you so down on marriage? You still go on and on about how great yours and Sol's marriage was, and I know for a fact you've considered it at least once since then.”

"Wrong. I've always thought it was a patriarchal ritual of a capitalist society. But even more so since I got woke."

"Since you started bingeing The Handmaid's Tale, you mean. My god, the moaning and wailing. But forget that. Come on, Frankie. I know this makes for a lot of things to be worked out, such as living situations ... oh good lord, I actually didn't think of that. Will Nick and I be living together?"

"Are you quite mad? You didn't think of this before ... well, I suppose there wasn't really time. Rush rush rush, this modern day society. They say love is sealed with a kiss, I guess it also seals away any active brain cells.”

“Well, I will admit it was a…snap decision. Frankie, can't you just be happy for me? I mean, there will be things to work out, but you're still my best friend and I want you in my life. And you don't mind Nick, do you? Really?

“Hmmpf. It could be worse, I suppose. It does seem, it's true what they say, love is deaf.”

“No, it's 'love is blind.’”

“Not in this case. After all, you and Nick are fairly attractive in your own ways. It's your voices and personalities that are annoying.”

“Thanks a lot. Anyway, what’s with all these ridiculous cliches? Did you google 'love phrases’  or something?”

“Google, pshaw. I don't need google. I live in the real world, I have eyes and ears and experience to draw on. I don't need electronically mediated ways to relate to the planet. I relish real life.”

“Oh come on. I found you googling your own name the other day.”

“Simply trying to find out what the competition is saying. After all, all's fair in love and the sex products business. But it is true, I must confess, I spent some time earlier this week sorting through an old box of those Sweetheart candies. Do you know they are discontinuing them?? What is this world coming to??”

“Oh Frankie. There's really no-one like you. C'mon, admit it. We can work it out. You'll try, right?”

“Well, I suppose, But I'm not promising anything until I hear those three little words. Come on. You know the ones.”

“Three little words? You mean … ‘I love you’?”

“Well, thanks, but no. No, I mean ‘You're Right, Frankie’.”

“I’ve so lost track of this conversation, I have no idea -- right about what?

“Does it matter?”

“Hell, yes, it matters. Do you think I go around telling people that they are ‘right’ with no reason whatsoever?”

“Ha ha, no. Not you. But here’s your chance. C’mon Grace. Look. You're the one with the catch made in heaven, head over hills in love. C'mon, throw me a bone. Kiss and wake up. C’mon.”

“This couldn’t be more ironic, after that riot of malapropisms, but okay, here goes. 'You're right, Frankie."

"And I love you, too, Grace."
