Sleepy Hollow! I wasn't going to watch this because I'm not a huge fan of horror, but a bunch of you persuaded me, so I gave it a try. Liked it, in that "oh this makes no sense but it does and it has cool music and the actors have good chemistry and it HAS JOHN CHO!" kind of way ( Read more... )

I'm with you. The more I heard about the show, the less I wanted to see it. I was convinced I wouldn't like it and it would be one of those, like The Bridge, that I'd watch for five minutes and then delete it.

But the Legend of the Headless Horseman is one of those stories for which my love has a thing for, and as it turns out, I'm glad she persisted in watching it. I hate what happened with Cho's character, but I like the girl which I didn't expect to. I'm also surprised to find Orlando Jones acting again after all this time ("Come on, ice cream!"), am liking Katherine and their use of the covens, and the Biblical apocalyptic aspect is actually making sense so far. It's also not too gory for my tastes, which is rare with horror shows these days, and the scene at the end is still rather sticking with me. I guess, probably, because I've seen things in mirrors before myself, although not that, thank God ( ... )

Let's check in on Brooklyn. And ditto on the non-gory horror, so far it's been shocking but more in the fun shock category.

I can't say it's really been shocking. Most of those who got it I saw getting axed well in advance of the writers actually depicting it, but not so far in advance that I saw the whole script within five minutes of watching which is too apt to happen for me.

Well, what did you think of Brooklyn? I didn't care for some of its humor, I admit, but their twist with the new Captain has me cinched in for a few episodes at least. I rather like the women, too; the few cops shows I've watched in the past, like Walker Texas Ranger and some seasons of Nash Bridges, have always had strong women.

I hope it gels some and the Samberg character settles down a bit; I like the other characters more, and yeah for Andre Braugher!

We missed the second episode because of SHIELD, but we'll be getting the third. There were a couple of characters on SHIELD that I just seriously wanted to slap around. I agree, though: Brooklyn does need some gelling, and Samberg needs a few, good bitch slaps to get him in place. Andre should be just the person to do it. :-)
