Wondering if this was based in something you read. ? I felt these kind of dinners just is not like Beatles at all. They could not feel confortable indeed. Not their cup of tea. Poor John...smeling like milk. But, that was funny anyway. Good text!
The uncomfortable dinners after touring is real. It was talked about in the Anthology book, I believe. I read Paul saying how they asked each other, "Should we be seeing each other?" and forcing dinners on each other.
the incident with the milkshake happened to me at work and I wanted to put it in a Beatles story. I was going to have it happen while eating in a studio canteen but my coworker said a fancy restaurant was funnier. That's when I got the idea of a fic about those awkward dinners in late '66

Dinners in fancy restaurants just don't look like
The Beatles. Too formal! I can see why they didn't enjoy the dinners. :)
