On Tuesday, Ampatuan Jr. faced the media and repeatedly denied his supposed involvement in the massacre.

During Ampatuan Jr.'s first day in court, his lawyer Sigfrid Fortun claimed that the massacre suspect could not speak in English and in Filipino.

On Tuesday's interview with media, the mayor talked in straight Filipino.

"Iyon ang hinihiling ko na sana lumabas na ang may kagagawan niyan. Mahirap po iyong pinagbibintangan ako, naghihirap sa loob nang walang kasalanan," Ampatuan Jr. said. ("That is what I am asking for, that whoever did this will be found. It is hard for me being accused like this -- suffering in jail when I am innocent")

The mayor said he is "100%" sure that he would be found innocent of the charges against him. He said all he wishes for is for the court to be fair in handling his murder cases.

"Alam ni Allah at alam ko na wala akong kasalanan," Ampatuan Jr. told reporters during the brief interview. ("Allah knows, and I know, that I am innocent")
