Is it wrong...

... that I am not fond of sunsets?

I wanted to append that question with "anymore?" then I remembered I never really liked sunsets in the first place. I wish I did because of how some people react to it, like I'm missing something spectacular or whatever. But I'm not exactly feeling it.

Once I was at a press junket in La Union and a lady from public relations was enthusiastic in pointing out the "magnificent" sunset right on the horizon. I said to her, "meh."

No, really. Without blinking I literally said to her face "meh."

I kind of felt bad after that and tried to make it up to her a few minutes later, saying that, yeah, the colors of the sky were actually quite different than in Manila Bay or some chuchu in that respect. But she was obviously embarrassed at my reaction so I let it go. Too bad. Those PR people work hard to build up an image so I understood it if I came off as unappreciative.

Recently, another situation came up on a fam tour I joined when a guy from our group asked me to take a picture of the sunset, this time at Subic Bay. I said, "I'm really not into that." To which he replied, "What's wrong with you? It's the sunset."

As much as I wanted to fart in his general direction (and downwind, at that) all I could say was, "whatever." To my credit, the guy's kind of a dork and was not well-liked by some people there.

Sunsets. What the big?
