So - where to begin?

Saturday dawned beautiful, we had such plans for outdoor work. Then the phone rang at 9:30, it was my husband’s cousin’s daughter, who was in town with her kids for a lacrosse tournament. Husband, being the generous soul he is, invited them to BBQ. As he left to see the game, I started to straighten the house (OMG guests?!?!). He returned shortly before noon with meat to cook, some store-bought potato salad and some Spachten Oktobefest. He started fretting that we wouldn’t have enough food, so he went back to the store to buy more chicken and salad. I destroyed my garden (so sad) and then doctored up the store-bought potato salad (added celery, red onion, chives, parsley, garlic powder, Old Bay, celery salt... - it was really good, I fessed up as we were eating, but no one would have guessed!) SO, at about 3 pm they show up & brought a friend, so we ended up making BBQ for 8! THEN we had a bon fire! Such a nice night (I drank a bit much of the beer), but the fire was wonderful! Everyone was gone by 9 & we started a movie. (I did dishes 3 times that day!)

Sunday - I didn’t get much done the day before, so it was time to bust hump before the storm hit. The paddle boat was first - it needed to be dragged out of the water, bailed out, cleaned out, fixed and put up for the winter. The grills by the pond house needed to be put away, the refrige cleaned, the stuff outside put inside. Done. Then the tomato cages & poles picked up from the garden and stowed away. Done. We straighted the hangar out (the previous owner had a plane - we use it as a huge garage!) So I was left to clean the house. Scrubbed the tub, mopped the bathroom, kitchen and living room, & vacuumed the rugs. Then washed the dishes & made for the clean tub for my Sunday ritual - a hot bath, Tori on the radio, a glass of wine and then a mud mask afterwards. Ahh, back to work today!
