I just caught my dad spraying Raid into the compost!
No wonder it's taking so long to decompose! He said it's because the fruit flies are coming in the house. No! The fruit flies are already in the house and they are multiplying because people leave food out and because we have a fruit bowl! This is the first time in my life I've felt smarter than my dad. It feels really wierd.
I'm actually kind of mad at him now. Insecticides don't kill JUST the fruit flies, they kill everything! All those redworms and nematodes we have in there are probably gonna die off now. The slugs will leave too. And we NEED the fruit flies as well! Their little maggots are a huge part of the process! I'm gonna throw away his can of Raid when he leaves today.
