Unfortunately, I don't know how to help your wife on this one.
As your wife has told you, this book is hard to find (and likely out of print). The only copy I've found in my searches was on Amazon's French website, and was selling for 126 Euros (about $163.00 US). Here's a link: https://www.amazon.fr/dp/0866982647/ref=olp_aod_redir/257-4062205-6131529?_encoding=UTF8&aod=1
I would like to keep the book for myself. On the other hand, I got this book over a decade ago as a present. I don't know how much was paid for it (the price doesn't appear on the dust jacket). So I don't know what it would be fair to ask you to pay. If you're willing to pay $163.00 US, you might as well go to the Amazon.fr website. And I suspect you're not prepared to pay $163.00 (though if you are, perhaps we should talk).
If there are particular limited items of information your wife would like to have, please let me know and we can work out a way for me to get that information to you.
