Media Round-Up
Mark Jurkowitz has taken up Media Log duties at the Phoenix, but he's just not as good as Dan Kennedy. His writing is flat, he doesn't have DK's amused in-the-know tone, and his blog is full of typos. The Dig's Media Farm (it doesn't have its own link) is getting better every week. I'd love to know who writes it-the author is listed as "Dig Staff."

As part of the city of Boston’s 375th birthday celebration celebration, Mayor Thomas M. Menino will be throwing his motherfucking hands in the air, and possibly even waving them like he just don’t care. He’ll be joined by MC Lyte, Big Daddy Kane, Special Ed, Medusa and the Floorlords (b-boys and -girls extraordinaire) in a celebration of furious rhyme-spitting that’s also apparently “a day of family fun for all.”

Menino is known as the Urban Mechanic or Mayor-For-Life. I'm supporting long-shot Maura Hennigan, but I'll tell you what I like about Menino: he's been our mayor for twelve years and shows no signs of going anywhere. Folks, he doesn't want to be anything but mayor of Boston. You gotta respect that, especially with Shithead going around acting like the second coming of Arnold Fucking Schwarzenegger, excuse my French.
