Well, wisdom more than comfort maybe.
I am still not to the point of accepting
all things with equanimity
So it is not comforting to know that my ego
is mainly responsible for the lack of peace
in me and in the world.

I think you are hard on yourself. You seem a man of peace to me. You care, and that is what matters. And, yes, wisdom, I agree.

I've read studies, including one in Scientific American, that conservatives are more afraid of otherness than liberals, and respond to stimuli with more fear generally. Which is ironic since they keep accusing liberals of being too afraid to fight the things conservatives are afraid of.
