From her Momma
cfchica:
Noelle's little bum had prolapsed. I whisked her off to the vet, who did a "purse string" suture. Two days later, I had to take Noelle in to have the sutures released so she could use the litterbox. Two more emergency trips followed, one of them a midnight run to a local vet ER 30 min. from my home. After an unsuccessful visit to my regular vet the following morning, it was determined that Noelle will need surgery.
I was fortunate enough to be referred to an excellent veterinary surgeon. Noelle's prolapse could be attributed to any one of the following: 1. Since she had gone into heat despite being spayed by the rescue's vet last spring, there could be some remaining ovarian tissue that has swollen and had caused pressure on Noelle's intestines, making her susceptible to prolapse. 2. She could have an anatomical problem that is causing the prolapse, or 3. A combination of both.
The cost of the surgery, combined with the outstanding bill for all the vet visits the past week, will be about $2000.00. I trust this surgeon implicitly; his skills, facility, and staff are all top-notch.
Please help if you can; while Noelle's been lucky so far, that left-over ovarian tissue is a ticking time bomb in terms of possible infection.
