While I don't wnat theological discussions to descend into actual violence, I wish more modern theologians displayed the kind of passion that St. Nicholas did. Too many are like the theologian in C. S. Lewis's the Great Divorce, who only love discussion and forget that we're talking about the most important matter in the world, the Living God.

Neither did the fathers at Nicaea.

As memory serves, they excommunicated Nicholas for doing violence to another there at the Council.

Then several of the other bishops there received a vision that night to restore Nicholas to the Church and to his episcopal rank, which they promptly did.
