It does, although I have to admit the style of the Mary film didn't really suit me; I stopped watching after a minute or two. So I'm not sure I'd really get into it. I support the idea of anything that will promote dialogue, though.
I absolutely breathe for religious costume dramas like Ben-Hur, so I'm enjoying this film on the Life of Mary immensely. I've stopped for the moment because we're drawing near to the Annunciation and I have to leave for church soon.
I'm all for anything that promotes dialogue. &hearts
But, the very thing the gentleman working on this Life of Jesus film is trying to say is the most impossible. Jesus outright claimed to be the son of God, the Messiah, the one who fulfilled all those prophesies. If you say that's not the case, then he's just a deluded madman or a liar. How is that a beautiful prophet?
So, I don't think you can have it both ways like that. You have to choose. Son of God, or not a good man. He cannot be 'a good man'.
Muslims firmly believe that Jesus was Son of God. They just don't believe that that makes him God. I don't think the Messiah claim is a problem either for them because the Messiah is not God either, and furthermore, even Jesus said that his Messiah-hood was spiritual.
It's the same thing; this person is also saying 'the Father and I are one' and referring to himself as having been present at Creation when no one but God was.
It seems like "Iranian version of the Passion of the Christ" is a gross misnomer. The Iranian film seems to be a bit more didactic in character than Gibson's _The Passion_. There are other Western Jesus movies that might serve as a better comparison, but none of those have become a household name.
So, if I understood the article correctly, the director included alternate endings?
I think what the director was trying to say is that the Muslim view is, in a way, an "alternate ending" to us, since we believe that Jesus was crucified, died, and rose again. The director depicts something different.
