My writing just isn't up to par lately.

I know most of you already know this at this point, but I have a job.

At one point, I actually had two jobs, but I'll get to that in a minute.

I was offered a position at the bank that Melanie works at, which will be known as The Bank. The position is essentially a sales position selling new accounts, mortgages (kinda) and investments (which is the huge push). Needless to say, I wasn't too thrilled about this position but the pay was right and it was a job. With Allen's hours switching to two days a week, I needed a job to happen immediately, so I accepted this job. While I wasn't excited about it, I was willing to keep a positive attitude knowing it was essential to my success.

THEN, I was offered a position as an HR Assistant for 5k less than the position at The Bank. It's only 12-15 minutes from my house (or about 5 miles) and the ladies I'd be working with are divine. It's a shipyard environment so it would come with a lot of challenges. For one, they hire and lay off people like it's going out of style; it's a labor company, that's what they do. Another is that they deal with 11 unions when the average business deals with two. I would be doing a large volume of work in this job.

Needless to say, I took the HR position. Hiring and laying off people sounds great, especially when nobody is surprised when they're laid off. In a labor industry, when a job is done you're laid off, no surprises. Working with 11 unions sounds great, too, because if I get another job in the future two unions will feel like a cakewalk! Doing a large volume of work sounds great too because I want to learn everything there is to learn about HR! While all of the preceding probably sounds awful to most people (it's okay to admit that you don't understand the appeal of HR- most people don't) it sounds like a bucket of fun to me! HR here I come!

I start Wednesday ;D While this won't be the end of our financial woes, it will certainly help.

brag, hr, job hunt, happiness
