My Alanapillar is getting so big! She's 19 months and I should summarize her life for you... who am I kidding, it's more for me ;D
She still breastfeeds about three times a day. That girl loves her boobies! My goal is 24 months and honestly, I think I'm going to cry when I have to stop. I'm really proud we made it this long. Breast is best and it's good to know I gave her the best start possible.
She says a lot of words- na na (food), water, up, down, meow, baa, quack, woof, neigh, ball, mama, dada, dog, wall, hi, eyes, nose, chair, whee, chin, doll, baby, boobies (Deirdre got to see that one, lol), boom, boo, oh, ready...go!, bye and some other things that will come to mind later when I've published this ;D Words she knows but doesn't use are "what's that?" "who's that?" "red ball" and "purple ball."
She knows where all of her body parts are- forehead, eyebrows, eye lashes, eyes, hair, ears, chin, nose, mouth, teeth, tongue, lips, neck, boobies, tummy, belly button, shoulder, legs, arms, feet, hands, toes, booty, fingers. She can also point out animals ("where's the brown bear?"), furniture, ceiling/wall/floor, people, toys.
She goes to bed at 10 and wakes up at 8 to start her morning marathon nursing session and we cuddle/nurse/snooze until 9:30.
She recently learned how to use a fork and a spoon (I delayed it for a while because I knew my mom would be uptight about the mess, so I did it while she was gone).
Her hair is getting longer. She laughs and smiles all of the time. She loves people and points at and waves to random strangers in public. She's a huge flirt and a crowd pleaser.
If you try to read her a book upside down, she turns it the right way, even if she hasn't seen the book before. There's a Dr. Suess book "ABCs" and it says "big c little c, what begins with c? Camel on the ceiling... C..C..C.." and it has a picture of a camel on the ceiling. Whenever Alana gets to this page, she turns the camel the right way ;o)
We read probably about 20 times a day. She loves reading. She brings me stacks of books and will stop me, mid-sentence, so she can turn back to a previous page with a picture she likes. I'll ask her what she likes, she'll point to it, I'll identify it and talk about it. She just loves it!
My brother got her this ice cream truck that plays The Entertainer incessantly, and it's her favorite thing. It honestly doesn't annoy me, as much as it probably should by now!
She also LOVES puzzles and is ridiculously good at them. She puts them together in a snap. She even tries challenging herself by putting the pieces behind her back, mixing them up, then drawing one at random and placing it in the puzzle. I got her a 3-year old puzzle and it only frustrated her, but the 2-year old ones are way too easy for her.
Another thing she does that I really love is she'll ask "Mama?"
I'll say "I'm Mama!"
"Dada?"
"Dada's at work!"
"OH!!"
She's obsessed with Allen. She'll climb up on the couch and point to Allen's parking spot and say "DADA! DADA!" when he's gone. When he gets home, she knows it's him (Allen's the only one who enters through the front door), so she runs to the baby gate, starts dancing, shrieking, and clapping.
Today, after her nap, I asked her if she wanted to nurse more or go upstairs. She pointed up and said "up." I said "you wanna go up to be with Grandma?" and she whined and said "DADA!" lol. I, of course, didn't tell my mom that. She loves my mom and my mom is great with her, it's just illustrative that she's obsessed with Allen!
She doesn't really have consistent playmates except for Maeve and the babies at the gym. She loves Maeve. She loves the babies at the gym, too, and they love her. The bigger kids especially love her. When I drop her off and pick her up, they tell me all about the things they did and how she's their friend. It's really cute.
She hates it when I get on the computer and I'm starting to tire of the computer as well. I use my iPhone sporadically throughout the day but that's about it. Whenever I'm on the computer, it's to apply for jobs, so once I'm done with that I basically don't want to see the computer any more.
She also brushes her own hair and teeth. In fact, she insists on it. She helps me dress her. She can put her shoes on, but obviously doesn't know which shoe goes on which foot.
Alana has only eight teeth but has FOUR molars coming in at once, all in different parts of her mouth. She's moody (but still pretty good-natured, we're so lucky) but with all of the things she's going through and learning, developing and growing, I can't blame her. It's amazing to think they grow and learn so quickly at this age. Maeve is the only baby I really saw throughout this stage and even then I didn't see her much (we lived in Selah then) but it seemed like every time I saw her she was a foot taller and knew 20394 more words.
I guess that's all for now. I should go take my nighttime Vicodin and the other medicines I take. Ta ta!
