Coffee with Kim, Emily, and Miss Alana at Starbucks (my old Starbucks). We did our grocery shopping afterwards. I didn't really have anything to buy, I just wanted to have company for a while. Alana was being so good, looking around and talking to people. She was entertained.
Kim is lightly planning her wedding. (For those who don't know, Kim and her boyfriend Erik have been dating since Sept. 2000 and he's finally proposing to her at some point during the next year. Yes, after 9 years.) Her biggest worry? Nikki looking awful in coral (Nikki is a very pale redhead). I told her that according to Stacey London, everyone looks good in coral. Emily said "tell her to go tanning!" She's also bummed because the Chinese Garden at South Seattle CC isn't finished, and it's not looking promising.
Her sister Lisa is pregnant with #2 and is due in September. Oddly enough, she is a victim of the WAMU layoffs, despite having been with the company for at least ten years, but gets one year's pay in severance and one year's pay in bonuses. That's two years, paid. Oh, and unemployment compensation! Her other sister Irene was laid off from her HR job at a hospital, and is bummed about that. Her severance was 2 weeks pay.
Emily just came back from Ocean Shores. She had a girls' weekend with her two sisters. They stayed in a casino, which she said was lots of fun. She also brought Tequila with her so they could do shots in the room to avoid paying for lots of drinks. She's leaving for Mexico with her husband at the end of this month. I hope she gets KTFU while she's gone. I need a niece or nephew! I forgot where they're going in Mexico, but they have a timeshare. Having never really been to Mexico, I can never seem to remember the details of people's Mexico trips. Seriously. Ask Kristine. I'll ask her how her Cabo trip planning is going and then tell her to have fun in Guadalajara. It's crazy.
Speaking of Kristine, she's in Juarez (just kidding, but she is in Mexico) right now soaking up the rays and beating off all of the admirers. I'm jealous. It's warm down there. It rains here. She'll be back on the 6th and we're going for coffee/lunch/dinner or SOMETHING right afterwards. I'm looking forward to it :o)
We talked about Nikki, who is moving back from California by the end of May (¡Arriba!). Her ex-husband, Mario, has served his time in the Navy and because they were married, she somehow gets moving benefits, but only until the end of May. Everything she could need for her move is paid for, so she's going to take it. It will be good to have my girls back in one place.
Allen, my loving husband, is a golfing fiend! He's been going for twilight golfing so it's half price. He's a freak of nature, unnaturally good at every single sport, and even though he's only played a handful of games, he beat his friend Tor! His game is also improving, he didn't get more than 8 on any hole, but his friends who golf occasionally hit the ten mark. He loves talking about golf (and I try to listen). Golf golf golf.
Here's a cute picture of Alana:
Oh, and I have only been lurking on the Nest for the last few days, but not posting, because it's a big clusterfuck. I wrote that not because anyone cares, but because it's MY diary. NFT
