Someone help please
So, I just starterd a new job about a month ago. I liked it, for the most part, up until...Monday.
I work for a married couple, Bob and Jan who own the business, so I don't have any HR to go to.
The girl I replaced worked for them for thirteen years and just walked out on them one day and quit.
Here's the issue.
Jan suddenly just SNAPPED on me. She yells at me a few times a day. It's not just her tone but her word choice as well. It seems like she's looking for a fight. Everything she says to me, she has an edge to her voice, like she wants me to yell back (this is the way she talks to her husband, but hasn't talked to me like this before).
For example, today:
Jan: *points to a number that is written in her handwriting* Where did you get this?! *accusatory tone*
Me: *politely* oh, nowhere, that's not my handwriting.
Jan: *raises voice* I KNOW THAT. I'm not saying you WROTE it, I'm asking you a question. WHERE DID YOU GET THIS NUMBER?
Me: *still nice*...umm...nowhere... it appears that you wrote it...
Jan: Well it's NOT CORRECT. You need to do a better job of checking this, I don't even know where YOU got this, because it's not correct.
How do you respond to this?
Another example from today:
Jan: You need to do a better job of entering these orders, this one is from TWO WEEKS AGO. *beginning to raise her voice*
Me: Oh, that one is the one that was on Bob's desk, I just got it handed to me yesterday. (they keep orders on their desk and hand them to me when they want them entered)
Jan: Well it's OLD and it needed to be put in a long time ago. I don't care where it was or where it CAME FROM, we're talking about the CUSTOMER HERE. We can't just have you SITTING ON ORDERS for TWO WEEKS because the customer doesn't want to wait forever for their checks!
Me: Yes, I understand that, but it wasn't even my stack until yesterday and I'm doing it right now.
Jan: This is RIDICULOUS that it would sit there for TWO WEEKS like this. RIDICULOUS. You can't keep doing this.
I've had to duck in the bathroom for the last few days because she is SO MEAN TO ME that I cry. I go home and cry on my lunch break. I can't keep doing this. Something has to be said. Nobody is going to hire me at six months pregnant (I know it's illegal to discriminate, but really, how would you prove if someone did?) and I need health insurance.
How do I approach this issue?
