If my home office would be courteous enough to give me more than an hour's notice of a courtesy close, that would be great. You CALL the branch and ask them if 11:00 is an okay time to have a customer come in to sign. You don't send out an email at 10 stating that someone is coming in and then send me the documents to print, separate and arrange at 10:56. Especially when our processor/only licensed notary is at the doctor's appointment. Yeah, we'll sign your legal documents without a legal witness.
I come to find out that my NIGHTMARE loan closing from yesterday signed everything with 9/18. It was 9/20. I didn't have time to notice when their grandchild was destroying my office and she was asking me all of these ridiculous questions.
The two things she said that stuck out were:
(when presented with the recission notice) "Why would I want to rescind?"
"I don't know, this is a great benefit to you and is helping you out a lot, but legally we have to give you the right."
"Well I think signing it is a waste of my time. I'm not going to rescind."
"I can't see why you would, but legally we have to give you time to make that decision, and you need to sign this saying we told you about it, it is a lot of money."
"UGH!"
"Why did we have to come in so many times to sign disclosures?"
"I understand, I felt that way when I first started working here, but when anything changes we have to disclose it to you. There's a reason that we've been around for 150 years and it's not because we surprise you and put you on a loan with terms you don't understand."
"Well, why can't we just do this all at closing?"
"It is 50 thousand dollars, miss, (that is a SMALL real estate loan) we'd like you to know where it's going before you sign for it. We like to keep it fair. All of these things I'm going over, did you already know them before today?"
"YES."
"And that's exactly why we do it, so there are no surprises."
Oh, and she got mad because I asked her to sign with her legal name. I could have done an aka statement, but that's just another piece of paper for he to be angry she has to sign.
The lady today was nice, but I was unprepared for it. I felt bad because I spent a lot of time digging through documents (did I mention she was early?) trying to put them in the right order and make sure everything was there.
I'm a huge stress ball right now! The boss is gone in California, which is good, but whenever she leaves bad things start to happen. On a normal day, we're mostly okay without her, it's just bad luck.
