Inset: Allen AndradeIt is all to common to hear about transgendered/transsexual people being murdered, especially in the US. Something about this case though seems to have made people sit up, listen and understand. Finally???
It is at times like this that I wish I was religious so that I could be assured that people like Allen Andrade would spend not just a life time in jail, but also the rest of eternity in Hell. The "gay panic" defence seems to have at long last gone to hell where it belongs.
Once again, like I did last year, I will light a candle especially for Angie on November 20th, Transgender Day of Remembrance...
DENVER, Colorado (CNN) -- A Colorado man was convicted of first-degree murder and a bias-motivated crime and sentenced to life in prison for killing a transgender teen he met on an online social networking site.
It was the first time in the nation that a state hate crime statute resulted in a conviction in a transgender person's murder, the advocacy group Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation said.
