Apple Pie

from Audrey Tison.

Peel and slice apples into a medium-sized bowl until it's half full. Over the apples, sprinkle 3/4 c sugar, 2/3 c flour, 1 t cinnamon, 1/4 t nutmeg, 1/2 t ginger, 1/2 t cloves (cloves are optional).

For top and bottom pie crust, begin with 1 1/2 c flour in a bowl. Cut in margarine (start with 2-3 T). If needed, add margarine. Cut in and add until there are small lumps. Add a little bit of cold water at a time until it all forms a ball when stirred with a fork. Handle (as little as possible) until it's the right consistency. Separate into halves. Roll 1/2 into pie bottom, stretch across pie tin. Add filling. Roll other half, stretch across top. Cut holes in the top. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
