Thought I'd share some good news for a change...
Ron was approved for SSI Disability this week.
I am shocked!! I was told by almost everyone that he would be denied and we'd have to get a lawyer to fight it, but he was approved the first time through. We received quite a large check for half of his back amount, seeing as he had his stroke in February 2007 and they are paying us from then until now. It's not like winning the lottery, but it sure feels like that at times. It feels like it is too good to be true. I was once again expecting the worst, but hoping for the best and was quite pleasantly surprised. We have a lot of bills to pay, but now that I know we can pay them I don't feel quite so bad. We are even thinking of planning a family vacation soon as it is something we have never done. And something even more important is that it makes Ron feel as if he is now contributing to the household. He was before, as I have told him again and again how valuable he is to the kids and myself, cleaning the dishes and doing the wash and just being here for and with us, but now HE feels as if he is doing more. I am in a state of shock, but feeling so very truly blessed between this good news and from knowing how many people we have in our lives who care for and about us.
