I have a friend who swears by Eukanuba, and that always seemed good to me (Melanie was on the its weight control for a while, but she kept eating Thumper's food and Thumper would eat hers) but I've heard in this community that it's not too great.
A pet store I used to work in fed their puppies and kittens Nutro, but I can't say much for them because they sold their dogs with terrible kennel cough (as a result of newbies never being quarrantined) and they sold their kittens with flea and ear mite infestations. I was once reprimanded for giving a kitten a bath before I sold her to a lady with other cats in her home--I "should have been doing something more productive". Yeeeah.
If your kitten doesn't have a weight problem though, I'd feed her wet food, as it's supposed to be better for them. Maybe a little dry here and there, but if Melanie wasn't such a chub I'd probably feed her mostly wet.

They get shut down every now and then for the abuse and neglect and such, but they always end up opening up again under a different name. *sigh*
