Kitten with vomitting/hacking issues
Hi, everyone! I hope I am posting correctly.
I have a kitten who will be five months old on the 20th. She has been having problems over the past few days. She has thrown up around four times. I was here to witness her throwing up this evening. She ate some food and threw up this brown gunky liquid a few minutes later. The other times she has thrown up a yellow-ish liquid with food particles in it. She ate a little more after throwing up and has kept that (and water) down.
Last night she started hacking for a few hours. I really don't know how to explain it, but she looks like she was coughing up a hairball. The thing was that her mouth was closed. It almost sounded like she was trying to clear her nose. Nothing came up, however. It seems like she gets lethargic after eating and she was also lethargic after hacking. It's only for a few hours and then she's back to her "bounce off the walls" self after a quick nap. In fact, she just woke up and is chasing her sister.
When I adopted her from the HSPCA a couple months ago she (and her sister) had an upper respiratory infection. She was on antibiotics for a good week and all was well. Recently, she started sneezing again and has a watery eye. That may have something to do with it.
I'm going to take her to the vet tomorrow morning, but I just wanted to see if anyone could give me ideas as to what is going on. Thanks!
