Cats do that. If you get them in the house as kittens they will grow and cuddle and be the best of friends. As adults, they will spend months hissing until they just deal with each other's presence.
When my sisters introduced kittens to Molly she spent all day pouncing them, smacking their heads and hissing at them. They were too stupid to know she was angry so they just kept about their business. Once Thaddeus outgrew her (only a few months, what a beast! Looks like a lion cub) he stood his ground and the fights all stopped. *Note, they both still fight other cats in the neighborhood when they go outside. Thad is like a massive bouncer compared to the other cats. He's like 16lb.
