now that's some real conversation fo' yo' ass

Saturday night, I trekked out to Asssumption College to see Ben Folds with Kevin and Jeff. Since I was all slow about getting into Ben Folds and I didn't get to see him when he played at WPI a few years back, this was my first time seeing him live. I really gotta say, there's nothing like a gym full of students at a Catholic college singing along heartily to "Bitches Ain't Shit". Warms my heart, I tells ya.

I also didn't realize that Ben Folds apparently has a 14-year-old girl following, judging by the abundance of them in the audience. And no, I'm pretty sure I'm not just getting old and crotchety and thinking that college freshmen are 14, I'm pretty sure that being barely 5 feet tall and having braces is the mark of the 14-year-old. Said 14-year-olds also looked mighty uncomfortable during the aforementioned "Bitches Ain't Shit" sing-a-long. It was great!

I ran into one of the 3 people I still know at WPI at the concert - one of my high school friend's little brother. Now that made me feel old - I've known him since he was a freshman and I was a senior in high school. I hadn't seen him in probably a year or two at this point, and man, he grew up. He doesn't look like the gangly high school student I remember - somewhere along the line, WPI made him a man. He's graduating in the spring. Man, I feel old. Suddenly, age doesn't matter anymore within our generation - I guess once you hit 21, it's all the same.

weekend, music
