Point of Reference- I do not mean to insult OSU, nor insult anyone who attends or might attend OSU. I have a few friends who attend this college, and they're enjoying it and recommend this school... so don't hate me for the less- than- flattering reference.
And that’s when Sara decided to do it. She leaned forward, not breaking eye contact with the gorgeous blonde in front of her. She felt a smooth hand on her cheek, gently guiding her forward; to full lips and bright eyes. Sara couldn’t tell for sure, but she was pretty positive that she stopped breathing.
Catherine knew what was coming way before Sara made her move. She could feel her heart racing as her lips brushed against her friend’s…
The world came to a sudden halt; everything was perfect and the universe made sense. Heaven crashed down and hell turned to ice as beauty and irreversibility combined to form five of the most perfect seconds in both Sara’s and Catherine’s histories.
And then it was over. The liplock broken, the two women opened their eyes and gazed at each other for what seemed like an eternity. At long last, Sara spoke. “I’m sorry.”
Catherine gave her a confused look. “For what?”
Sara shook her head. “I- it was in the heat of the moment, I… I wasn’t thinking, this- I didn’t mean for this to be so…” she trailed off, not wanting to say ‘sudden’.
Catherine frowned. “So, that didn’t mean anything to you?”
Sara’s eyes widened. “No! I mean, yes, it did mean something to me. I just thought that, um, you didn’t want-“
Catherine cut her off. “But I did want it,” she said. “I’ve wanted it.”
Sara looked down at her hands and started tracing the outline of the edge of her couch cushion. “Me, too,” she said quietly. “Is this- are we a thing?”
A slow smile crept over Catherine’s face. “A ‘thing’, Sara? I always thought you were more articulate than that.”
Sara exhaled and rolled her eyes toward the ceiling. “Well, you were wrong.”
Catherine laughed. “Another joke, Sara. You know, you’re going to have to get used to this if you and I are a… what did you all it? A ‘thing’.”
“Whatever,” Sara kept her eyes glued to the ceiling.
“Whatever?” Catherine said with mock alarm. “Aren’t you supposed to be a Harvard graduate? Or was Ohio State’s call too loud for you to ignore?”
That did it. “Bitch!” Sara grabbed a throw pillow that was nestled between the cushion and arm of the couch and began to beat Catherine senseless.
Catherine shrieked, laughing as she tried in vain to take the pillow from her… friend? Girlfriend? The fair-haired CSI attempted to make sense of the preceding scenario even as she dodged the soft blows of the throw pillow to her face. Giving that up and concentrating on reversing power roles from Sara to herself, Catherine finally managed to wrestle Sara down so her back was to the seat of the couch, her wrists pinned above her head.
Sara struggled to get free, the satin of her slipdress clinging to her body where her skin glistened with sweat. She knew her face was flushed, and she couldn’t keep the smile off of her face as she stared up at Catherine’s glimmering eyes and almost evil grin.
“Okay,” Sara said with a sigh. “I give. You win.”
But Catherine wasn’t letting go of her control that easily. “Yeah, I’ll bet,” she said with a half- smirk.
“Seriously, Cat. Let me go,” Sara tried to pry her wrists from Catherine’s grip.
Catherine snickered. “Not so tough anymore, are you?”
“No…” Sara stopped squirming just long enough for Catherine to relax her hold.
That was all Sara needed. She easily slipped out of Catherine’s grasp, reversing their positions by grabbing ahold of Cat’s arms and pinning them down at her sides. Sara pushed Catherine’s back up against the back of the couch, straddling her with purpose.
Catherine grinned. “I could get used to this.”
“Really?” Sara had already begun kissing Cat’s neck.
“Mmm, yeah…” Catherine closed her eyes, marveling at the perfection of Sara’s lips to her throat, ignoring the guilt she knew they’d both suffer from later. Why did everything this amazing have to end so soon? Catherine wondered if it was all a dream. 'And if it is,' she thought, 'I hope I never wake up.'
