I often find it interesting that many people believe that cats are capable of creating a "god" in the image of themselves, just as humans do. This is something that has gone on for centuries, since the predawn of history. Dogs, the only other real "companion animal" of human beings, have no such god. (Cerberus wasn't so much a "god" as a mythological figure.)
Humans also give to cats an "interior life" that they don't to dogs. T.S. Eliot's "Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats" ( on which the musical "Cats" was based) is a very good example.
