i am in the process now of starting to get my application materials together, and was wondering what the best way to go about asking a former professor for a recommendation is. i sat down to write her an email and all i could think of was "i want to sk you for a rec..." surely there a better way, and i'm blanking. maybe i'm not the best at beating around the bush in an appropriately respectful way, so does anyone have any advice for me?
with regards to this professor in question (i've already secured agreements for 2 other recs) i had her for 2 or 3 classes in my undergrad and did pretty good in them. i think she likes me (though she's notoriously hard to read) and she's the department chair and teaches in the field i will be studying in grad school.
thanks in advance for any help.
