Surprise! A real post for once!

Last Saturday I went on a loooooooooooooong driving trip to help the Breauxs move to New Mexico. I mainly went to help drive one of their 3 cars. Kristin and I were in one car, Blake and Momma Breaux in one car, Karen and Kat in the truck, and Mr. Breaux was in the U-haul towing the Mustang. Instead of leaving at 6 am as originally planned or 9 am as later planned, we ended up leaving at 12:30. We made a few small stops for gas, potty breaks, and one stop for an emergency bird switch, but other than that it was pretty much just straight there. I think around 3 or so in the morning we started getting loopy. From there it only got worse. Somewhere in Texas we were driving and it felt like we weren't getting anywhere. I was entertaining Kristin as she was driving by saying there were alien lights in the distance and that we should be hitting Armadillo sometime soon (which was really Amarillo, but it looked like Armadillo to me). When we finally got to the New Mexico border it was pretty much a barren wasteland. There would be a city then hundreds of miles of nothing. We saw a sign at one point that said rest stop 86 miles....when we hit that rest stop it was closed! This is bad when you really have to pee. We saw several other signs that amused us mainly 'cause we were both loopy as all hell. When we hit the mountain in Albuquerque it was focus time. Kristin was trying to follow Blake who was following Karen and Kat. That was something else. We almost got hit by 18 wheelers at least twice. We passed some weird color changing aloe vera plant just sitting on the mountain. I'm not sure it was signifying anything....it was just sitting there with no sign or anything. We finally reached Rio Rancho at around 8 in the morning. We were still following Blake who was still following Karen and Kat. They passed one of the streets we were supposed to turn on, but I was paying attention and told Kristin to turn. She did, and we ended up finding the house first. Yey us! Kristin and I took a few pictures of the house and neighborhood before the others got there. I called Donald and mom to let them know I got there safely, and found a place in one of the closets to curl up and go to sleep. Needless to say I didn't sleep well, but I did get a few hours. That night we went to a place called El Pinto. It's Mexican food but not Tex-Mex like we have here. I got a taco salad which was really tasty. Went to bed a little earlier than normal for me that night and slept pretty good for sleeping on the floor.

Monday after we unpacked the U-Haul, the females of the group including Momma Breaux, Kristin, Karen, Kat, and I went to Old Town Albuquerque and walked around. We saw some Native Americans sitting on the sidewalks selling jewelry.....alot of which was handmade and really pretty. We went into several little stores that sold random stuff. I got lots of pictures of stuff, but didn't buy anything 'cause well I didn't have any money. Even though both Momma Breaux and Kat offered to buy me stuff I told them no. I hate owing people. We left there around 6ish I think. As we were driving away I saw a sign for a radiation exhibit. Unfortunately, I didn't get a picture of it, but I did get a picture of the rocket in front of the Atomic museum. That night we ate at a place in Rio Rancho called Hot Tamales. It was ok as far as Mexican restaurants go, but not as good as El Pinto. I definitely think I've had my fill of Mexican food for the year. We all went to bed early 'cause we had to get up early on Tuesday to get to the airport. Again I slept in the closet....I chose to this time 'cause it was dark in there. If I could have fit a mattress in there it would have been better, but whatever.

Tuesday I woke up at 2:45 am.....not because I wanted to, but because I had to pee really bad. I had set my alarm for 4 am. So I went to the bathroom and laid back down. When I couldn't get to sleep by 3:30, I finally just got up, took a shower, and got ready to leave. I folded up my bedding and put it on the shelves in the closet, organized my bag so my pillow would fit in there, and got everything together. At 5:30ish we left for the airport. I hadn't been on an airplane in like 20 years so I was wondering how this was gonna be. The checking in part was kinda hectic 'cause I felt like I was being rushed. The actual flying wasn't so bad though. We had a layover in Dallas where we got to scarf down some lunch before getting on the plane to Jackson. We got home around 12:30 which was nice....I think we were all really tired. Jack picked us up at the airport, and we headed to their apartment. My car was there so I just took Blake and Karen to their cars at the Breauxs' old house 'cause it was on my way home. When I got home I was really tired, but I decided I would stay up so I could sleep that night. Boy did I sleep well too.

I almost didn't want to get up on Wednesday. I mostly just hung around the house on Wednesday. I was supposed to hang out with Donald that night but ended up not doing that 'cause he had a family crisis going on. I was really hoping to see him since I hadn't since last Thursday, but I understood. I had a rock I picked up in the Breauxs' new backyard to give him.....well a couple rocks really. I ended up just spending the day/night here at the house resting from the trip.

Thursday night I ended up seeing Donald and giving him his rocks. He told me he found a puppy in his garbage bin. I walked in to this little ball of fluff walking towards me. Poor little thing had a sore patch on one of her haunches and her skin was all kinds of icky feeling, but otherwise I think she was ok. Donald said he was gonna take her to the vet when he gets money to get her checked out and such. We headed over to his mom's house so he could get something to eat and get some food for the puppy. After that we headed back to his house and watched a few episodes of Dead Like Me. I have to say that show is pretty damn amusing.

Today not much has gone on. I went over to Beth's to get my monies for washing their clothes so long ago. I chatted with her for a while and then came back home. Now I'm sitting here with nothing to do. I think I might watch a movie or something. Tomorrow I'm going to keep Kristin company while she cleans the house so they can move in next week. Then I'm going to spend some time with Donald. After that I don't know. I think Donald said something about going to Fire tomorrow night.....and church Sunday morning. That one's all him. I'll sleep through that.

Anyway, pictures of the trip are here if y'all are interested in looking.
