Brain Music Therapy

Nov 16, 2006 08:59

This morning as I was getting ready for work, the Today Show did a segment on this new medical treatment in neuropsychiatry called Brain Music Therapy.

They take a machine and record your brain waves, and then scientists translate the electric impulses of an individual's brain waves into musical sounds. Everyone's brain makes it's own music. Listening to the music your brain makes cures a whole list of health issues, for 85% of patients who have tried it.

They will make you a "relaxing file" and an "activating file". The music from your brain will cure anxiety, stress, depression, insomnia, migraines, and stress headaches.

Unfortunately, it is still experimental, and not widely available. Also, it costs $500 and insurances will not cover it. Also, you need to go more than once. They mentioned you should go for a follow-up reading after your first time, and that over time you'll need to go again because you will be used to the current music, and I guess it changes? Hm.. I think it sounds really cool though. I wonder what my brain sounds like. >^_^<

I am now digging for websites about Brain Music Therapy.
