So, I had to drive to Ontario, Oregon yesterday for a Department of Environmental Quality hearing today. Where's Ontario, Oregon, you ask? Its not the end of the world, but its close. Ontario is on the eastern end of Oregon, just steps from the Idaho border. About 380 miles from Portland. What was the DEQ hearing about, you ask? A septic system that was leaking untreated waste onto neighboring property, and repairs that were done without a permit and contrary to the DEQ's standards. Unfortunately, the property owner (like the neighboring property) is in deep do-do, and he's going to have to un-do, then re-do, the septic system.
The good news, the hearing got out early enough so I had a chance for some sightseeing and photo shooting. Check out Chula at the Far Eastern Oregon State Capital Building in Adrian, Oregon:
Adrian is about 22 miles south of Ontario. It wasn't the ideal day for shooting rural landscapes, but I found some interesting things along the way, which I've posted to my flickr page.
