Okay, I'm trying to think of a way to phrase this as a debate but honestly, this is the most active pet community on LJ right now and I got some excellent advice on my last post.
We start training on 1/10 and I did verify that it was positive reinforcement (thanks to what y'all taught me here).

I love our dog. I want to do right by her and accept her as a member of our family but if I could caution anyone adopting in the future of one thing it would be to consider the pets you already have at home (and around your home). I adopted her from a kill shelter so I didn't have a lot of opportunity to leisurely bring her home and acclimate her with the cat, etc...I told them we had a cat, they didn't see a problem and hey, she was really sweet to us but um, she hates cats. Like, really, really hates them.
I posted before how when she escapes the house she runs wild and I can't get her attention...well, now we're taking her out on a leash (even though our back yard is fully fenced) b/c we can't trust her not to get out and terrorize the neighbor's cat (she chased him up a tree and there was just no stopping her, she was just dazed over. It was scary as hell and to make it worse, my neighbor witnessed it and was flipping out and telling us that our homeowner's insurance would be insane if our dog killed her cat! yeah, it was bad and not to mention extremely embarrassing.)
Sorry for the ramble, I'm just obsessing over this and I just want to get to a place where we can all just FUCKING RELAX.
