The last couple of weeks!

Hello All,

Ok, I last talked about the 28th. I think the next couple of days were busy with studying for finals, and writing papers, and Gobbets, and doing presentations! Blah. I had a Mediaeval final on December 2nd, that was fun, sort of. There were only four of us taking the final so it was kind of bizarre.

That weekend and the next couple of days were mellow ones, I had loads of work to do before my next finals. I had a Modern History final on the 8th of December, that was interesting as well. That night Jen and I went out to Drouthy Neebors and sat for a while, we had both had long weeks and needed a break. It was pretty fun.

Friday night, I had my Renaissance choir concert, I had some solos in the Mass, it was pretty neat. Now I can say I had a solo in Scotland, sweet. It was great though, we sang in Holy Trinity Church which was built in the beginning of the 15th Century. Perfect for the music we're singing. Jen and Brianna showed up to cheer me on, silently of course. After that the three of us went to the Union (they have a bar inside) and met up with our friends Helle, Amy, Joelle, and Lee. It was really fun, we took a lot of goofy pictures there. It's really too bad we didn't become better friends with all of them sooner, but we've been having a lot of fun since.

Saturday the 10th we went to Dundee for the day. We caught an earlish bus and were shopping in Dundee by 11 am! Not bad for us. I was looking for a dress for Christmas eve and some sort of t-shirt, and Jen was looking for something nice to wear on Christmas eve. We both found dresses we liked, in record time, and then walked around the city center. It is a tiny little port city, and there really isn't much to it, but we had a good time none the less. On the bus back to St. A we sat with a couple of girls from our Hall, Rabi and Hetal. It was a nice day overall. That night Jen and I went and had dinner at Pizza Express, this awesome pizza chain, but it's delicious, that ended up being our last night eating there. Sad!

Sunday I did work in the morning and then got the room ready for the Christmas party extravanganza! Uh sort of, it was only Jen, Tom and I, but it was fun, we all looked 'smart' as Tom puts it. We took some goofy pictures of that night as well, just you wait! Then the three of us went to dinner at 1 Golf Place, a pub, and then went to the Carol Service at Holy Trinity! It was a huge service, practically the whole student body showed up. It was really great, we had to stand up it was so packed! It was really neat to be a part of it.

Monday...I wrote my last paper for the semester and studied for my Scottish final, which I took Tuesday afteroon. Monday night Jen and I went out to none other than the Tudor Inn, there we met up with Chris, John, and Hannah, and played some poker. It was a lot of fun, again I wish we had become better friends with them as well! But hopefully we'll be able to keep in touch. My final the next day, that was amusing, it was just me and the professor, evidently I was the only one to take an early exam. After that I read for my presentation the next morning and went to the last rehearsal of Renaissance Choir, this time we met at St. Leonard's Chapel, what a cute little place, I loved it. So we sang through some songs that were Christmasy. Then we all headed off to David's (the choir director) house. Rabi and I road with this woman, I don't know her name, but the house was out of town a bit. There we had some nice red wine, and an interesting dinner! It was my first time being in a real Scottish home, it was a cute little place too. We had all sorts of Quiche, and bread, and salads, and Ratatouille (Spelling?). It was a nice little meal. For dessert we had Cream, they called it just that, Cream, with Bananas and Grapefruit cut up in it, and fresh cheeses from the Cheese Monger on nut bread. Interesting. I tried the Cream, but it was sooo bitter! I don't think there was any sugar in it! I was shocked, I'm sure you can believe it. So we rode home with this American couple, they were a little annoying, hyper intellectuals, blah! But we got a ride so it was nice.

Wednesday I got up to work on my presentation before my final tutorial. It went fine, thanks for asking, and then I met up with Jen for lunch at The Central, a little pub in town. We enjoyed a leisurely lunch and then walked around town. We did some shopping for people...and walked around being horribly sentimental, it has to be done. I came back and took a nap and then didn't really accomplish anything. That night we went to dinner at the hall, and then promptly went out for pizza. Before that we decided to stop in at the Tudor, we met up with Chris and John and Hannah again, played some poker, and also hung out with the Swedish Chef! We had been seeing him at the Tudor the past couple of times, I'm too lazy to add that though, so I'll just tell you now. Anyway, it was a lot of fun, and we got a picture with him! So he is real!

Today I got up and did some things around the room, getting ready to pack. Met Jen for lunch at the hall, and then I went into town to buy the rest of my presents. I'm done..except two little things. I walked around town a bit, then came back and packed everything! It's really weird to be packed, I don't know how I feel about it. So I'm all packed, except a few little things here and there. After dinner I went into town to go to another Carol Service, by candlelight. It was really nice, I loved it. It was basically our Christmas eve service, only by candlelight and in a really old chapel. (I like our service better though) But it was neat to go to. And now I'm here.

Tomorrow should be a busy day of taking pictures and eating at all of my favorite places. I can't believe I'm down to my last day in St. Andrews! Where did the time go?!?! Well, I'll write tomorrow night about Friday and that will be it from Scotland. I'll see some of you soon!

Love,
Cate
