Now that it's about two weeks into 2009...

Jan 15, 2009 16:34

1. What did you do in 2008 that you'd never done before?
Sucked it up and moved back home.

2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I probably kept the token "Be Happy" one the best. I've made more for this year but who knows.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not as far as I know - I like to think I'd notice something like that.

4. Did anyone close to you die?
No, thank goodness.

5. What countries did you visit?
Didn't leave the country but went up to Georgia to move my brother to GA Tech and to South Carolina with Shaun and Reece.

6. What would you like to have in 2009 that you lacked in 2008?
A more fulfilling job.

7. What dates from 2008 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I'm bad with dates so months will do. May, when I graduated from UF and also when Ashleigh got mawwied. July, when I met Shaun IRL, then July 22nd when I realized that I was his girlfriend. Heh heh. End of July, I moved back to Jacksonville. August, my family and I moved my brother to COLLEGE. AHHH. September, I turned 23 and had an amazing birthday with a ton of people I care about. December was entirely a blast sans the kidney infection o' doom.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Either graduating from UF or successfully moving back home with my parents.

9. What was your biggest failure?
Not keeping my shit together to finish better at UF, but I am glad that I finished.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Only one illness aka kidney infection o' doom.

11. What was the best thing you bought? -
Probably my cute cell phone but I rather liked what I got Shaun for Christmas/New Year's. Oh, and my manacles. *grin*

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My brother's. Hands down. The kid finished Stanton successfully, is kicking ass at GA Tech (he's a TA his second semester of college, how badass is that??), and got his IB diploma in December.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and/or depressed?
The company I work for. Enough said.

14. Where did most of your money go?
Frivolous crap probably, though I do like wrestling the check from Shaun when it comes to dinner. ;)

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Graduating, meeting Shaun, helping my brother move to college, turning 23, being around family and friends. Also, my amazing new Canon camera from my parents and the Nintendo DS a certain someone got me for Christmas.

16. What song will always remind you of 2008?
Really any song from Guitar Hero III or Rock Band. =P

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
a) happier or sadder? Happier
b) thinner or fatter? About the same
c) richer or poorer? A tad richer since I live at home, but that money mostly just goes to CC bills

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Asserted myself and took advantage of missed opportunities.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Feel sorry for myself and spend money on crap.

20. How will you be spending Christmas?
I spent the day at home with my parents and brother hanging out, then with Shaun at night. Boxing Day the next day was also splendid. =)

21. Did you fall in love in 2008?
Probably but it took till 2009 to say it.

22. How many one-night stands?
None.

23. What was your favorite TV program?
No Reservations with Anthony Bourdain, Project Runway, Nip/Tuck, The Big Bang Theory,House

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
I don't hate anyone really.

25. What was the best book you read?
Given that I read so few books, I should be able to pick one easily but I can't. Maybe Choke by Palahniuk?

26. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Torrents. I am thoroughly addicted now.

27. What did you want and get?
To be happy back home and find someone amazing - seems that the two worked out.

28. What did you want and not get?
A better job.

29. What was your favorite film of this year?
Oh goodness, a tie between Wall-E and The Dark Knight. Ironman was also good, as was Role Models.

30. What did you do on your birthday?
Went to a hibachi place with Meghan and folks, then played pool and had beers. It was awesome.

31. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Being able to put in my two weeks at my job. Oh well, maybe in 2009.

32. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2008?
Comfortable and mostly tomboyish in the first half. Then more feminine and cute in the second half.

33. What kept you sane?
My sanity. Also knowing that I have so many great people in my life.

34. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Christian Bale? Who knows, I oogle but don't remember who I oogle most.

35. What political issue stirred you the most?
Amendment 2/Proposition 8 - it makes me so upset that people can be so narrow-minded.

36. Who did you miss?
Pretty much everyone who I didn't see pretty constantly, my brother especially since I feel like he and I have the ideal sibling relationship...FINALLY. Figures that he'd leave the state for college. =P

37. Who was the best new person you met?
I'd have to go with Shaun. Though my awesome coworkers make my job less awful sometimes.

38. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2008:
As long as you have people that care about you, the ocassional amazing night out, and take the time to laugh and appreciate life's awesomeness, then you'll be ok.

39. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
so let go, jump in
oh well, whatcha waiting for
it's alright
cause there's beauty in the breakdown
