Tapi's Great Adventure: Going International!

May 05, 2012 02:25

You may or may not remember Tapi's Great Adventure. That was a trip to São Paulo we did back in 2010 that I documented in photos of Tapi. Now, this year my parents and I (and a cousin, and some family friends) went to the US, and guess who tagged along?

So prepare for some intense picture-heavy post, because this was a 17 day long trip. xDDD I have also become much lazier since then (and it's a lot more photos) so no thumbnails, you get big pictures every time. Good luck.

Our adventure begins, as many adventures do, on an airport. Tapi waits patiently for our flight.

Once the check-in was done and we boarded, it didn't take long for him to rush to the window so he could look at the clouds. Get used to it, Tapi, we'll be flying a lot!

At last we arrive at the airport in New York. But before that we went to São Paulo and then Chicago! That was a lot of flying there. Tapi's anxious to start the adventure already!

Tapi observes the streets as we head to the hotel. We dropped our stuff there and went straight out again! After some wandering around and eating, we decide on our first destination.

Yup, you got it. The Empire State Building. Tapi can't wait! ... As usual.

"RAWR! It's the attack of the Tapizilla!" ... Tapi stop that. :T You ruined the mood! Ah, screw it.

Tapi watches the city from above.

Quite a nice view, I must say!

He enjoyed it very much, too.

Ah, but it started getting late and we decided to head back. Also, our feet were KILLING us.

The next day we all went to Woodbury Outlets. Tapi didn't like it very much, because there weren't many things for a Caterpie to do there. I however very much enjoyed the Disney store. ;D

As Tapi was so bored there, we didn't take any more photos with him in the outlets. Instead, let's move on to the next day! Here you can see Tapi in front of the carriages in Central Park. Central Park was about one block away from our hotel, so we were always there, haha. =p We decided to go for a little ride.

Lots of flowers. Tapi really enjoyed the ride.

Did I mention he likes flowers?

After the ride was done, we had to cross the park by foot again because we wanted to go visit the Metropolitan Museum, haha. Our poor feet! It was worth it, though, love that museum! (No photos with Tapi inside the museum because as an art student I feel a strange respect for museums and couldn't bother to take photos with a Caterpie in there =p Sorry.)

Tapi in front of this... little... sign thing. In the museum.

I honestly have no idea when this was because I got a bit lost on the dates here, but here's Tapi with a statue of a bear near the Apple store. =p I think.

Tapi also got the chance to visit Times Square!

And Toys R Us, which is awesome because HA LIKE WE'D EVER HAVE A TOY STORE THAT HUGE HERE. In my dreams.

The next day then I recall clearly was a thursday! You'll see why I remember that later. :T Anyway, we wanted to visit the Gugemheim museum that day, so we took the subway! Yaaaay subway in New York, yaaay Jacob's Ladder in my head all the time. xDDD

Seriously man, subway in New York. Kinda creepy. SPECIALLY if you've seen Jacob's Ladder, but still creepy if you haven't. Tapi didn't seem to mind though. Then again, he didn't see that movie.

Tapi proudly shows us his metro card.

The train arrives...

And Tapi gladly takes a seat. (Thanks mom for holding him for me. xD) A couple of nice ladies here found him adorable and wanted to know "what he does". They seemed a bit disappointed when I said he was just a plushie and didn't do anything, but thought the idea of having a travel buddy was cute.

Tapi spots the museum! As we were crossing the street, an old lady asked if he was enjoying the trip, haha. She wanted to know if he likes museums, and was glad to hear he's very educated and really enjoys visiting museums indeed.

Tapi poses in front of the museum before we go in...

...... Oh. Oops. Looks like we're not going in after all. I knew there had been a reason we had originally decided to go to a different museum that day... But then we had forgotten it and messed up, haha. We just walked back to Metropolitan to visit the gift shop (dad wanted to buy some souvenirs for his coworkers), then took a taxi back to the hotel to rest.

Then I am confused again and don't remember which day it is but I think we went to Times Square again because I have photos.

See.

Photos.

I told you.

Tapi was upset that I went to see The Phantom of the Opera without him. I wanted to bring him along, but my mom wouldn't let me bring my purse! I didn't even have my camera with me. ;A; So he took a photo in front of the theater when we passed by again, just because.

The next day we went to the American Museum of Natural History.

Tapi likes dinosaurs.

After that we went on a little boat ride on the river because it's pretty and we had tickets. Tapi had never been on a boat before, so yay!

A view of the city...

"Look mommy, it's that liberty lady!"
Yes Tapi, yes it is.

On the way out we got to ride a limousine for 5 dollars a person, haha. Awesome! Tapi's special so he didn't pay anything. Here's a photo of him exploring the stuff in the limo.

When we got back to the hotel, it occurred to us we hadn't taken photos to show how creepy this place was! So here's one.

And then the next day was Let's Go Walking All Over the City with Amber! And Steve! My feet died (I had gotten my thumb hurt, so I had to wear flipflops, and IT WAS FREAKING FREEZING OUTSIDE. My foot must have indeed been frozen, because while we were outside I didn't feel anything, but whenever we got inside it'd get warmer and hurt like hell, haha.), but it was fun! :D Here's Tapi in front of Nintendo World.

Tapi was very excited to finally go to Nintendo World, but not as much as I was. xD

Hey, hey guys. Like, guys. Listen to this, I have this great idea. We should all play Let's Find Tapi. Yeah, totally man.

Tapi observes THE EPIC GAMEBOY. Of epicness. And stuff.

"Are you guys alright down there? ;A;"
Yes Tapi, they're fiiiine.

And here's us... in the street. I guess. Idk man.

More photos in the street.

And more...

After Amber and Steve leave, Tapi finally has a chance to properly meet all the newcomers.

"Uuuuuh, I'm a ghoooost~!"
No, Tapi, you're not. Turn that thing off. :T

"Aww, okay..."

And in order to get to the airport, we got to ride a limousine again! Yaaay :D

"Oooh, shiny! *A*"
Yes, very shiny. Fancy~ Too bad there was nothing on those glasses, haha.

Tapi drinks some soda before we get on the flight. I'd tell you all about the crazy drama that happened before that, but you don't wanna know. xD

What matters is we got on the flight, so yay Orlando!

Tapi would now like to show you some photos of him at the first hotel we stayed in.

WELL TAPI ARE YOU DONE WITH THE SPAM YET?
"It's not spam, mommy! The hotel was just really pretty. ;3;"

We had to visit this resort to get cheaper tickets to the parks. Look how fancy it is.

Tapi found a nice hiding spot!

OH NOES! Tapizilla strikes again!

"Rawr, mommy!"
Yeah, rawr.

Back to the hotel, we were hungry so we stopped by the McDonald's nearby before heading to the mall.

Florida Mall, here we go!

Tapi wanted a photo with the giant M&M.

Alright, alright...
"Yaaaay, mommy! *w*"

The next day, we went to SeaWorld. *A* One of my favorite parks ever, it's so pretty!

Buuuurds!

Fishies!

Tapi and I got to get inside an aquarium! Sort of.
"Glub glub, glub glub!"
Silly Tapi, you're not a fish!

We then went to watch a pretty show~

Dad kept wanting me to appear on the photos. :T I hate taking photos, damn it! But these turned out okay I suppose, which is why I'm posting them. Also to prove I actually exist.

Tapi observes the dolphins. ... Wait.

At a smaller show, with pets!

Oops, flowers. There goes Tapi's focus.

Then we watched another show~

Tapi approves of plants in the shape of orcas.

Then we went to the Wild Artic. By now my battery was dying and most photos were taken with my phone, and I don't know how to get them into the computer. :'D Oops.

Last photo I could manage to take with my camera that day. xD

The next day we went to Universal's Island of Adventure! Prepare for an even bigger pic spam.

Epic entrance is epic.

We kind of rushed past everything there to get to the Harry Potter part first, which is what my dad wanted, even though we knew EVERYONE does that so it'd be busy as hell. :T

It was nice there though, Tapi liked it.

Once we were done there, mom and I were free to go wherever we wanted. Which means TONS OF PHOTOS. *A*

Indeed.

Tapi's a Thing now! o3o
"I'm a what? o^o"

Hanging out with the Things.

Well, Tapi and the Grinch have gotten along fairly well! Must be all that green.

Trying out a nice hat~

Oh look, it's the owner of said hat!

Tapi, that's not funny anymore. D<
"Yes it is... ;^;"

Then we got to the Marvel part~ \o\

More green buddies for Tapi! >3<

Tapi is happy, he gets to see all the characters he likes!

RAWR epic fight.

Tapi also very much enjoyed the Spiderman ride. Because it's awesome.

Trying out Popeye's hat...

Then hanging out with him! Or... them...

Tapi is helpful, he helps us carry the soda!

Hmm, pizza. Does it taste good, Tapi?
"Yum! >3<"

Coolest guys out there hanging out together.

We would now like to present a series of photos of Tapi near speech bubbles.

Tapi meets a very unfriendly dinosaur. Get out of there, Tapi!
"Meep! ;^;"

Fluffy~

ET phone home...

Things again!

Let's play Find the Tapi again, yes?

Just the right size~

We had to pass by the Harry Potter bit again because we hadn't been able to go on a ride we wanted to, so here's a photo of a Harry Snowman.

Then we couldn't take the camera inside WHICH JUST KILLS ME because it was so gorgeous in there. ;A; I wish I could have taken tons of photos of Tapi inside the Hogwarts castle! If I knew they escorted people who had stuff with them to the lockers then brought them back to the line, I would have just brought my stuff on purpose so I could take the photos. >^>;

On our way out of the park now...

Tapi enjoys his very last seconds in there. Don't be sad, Tapi, we still have plenty of parks to visit!

Next day was regular Universal Studios.

Tapi and I were both sad that this attraction wasn't there yet, whatever it was. We like Despicable Me!

Mhm, pizza.

FSDNHFJUSHBDJSBJHGRJS TAPI WHAT ARE YOU DOING GET OUT OF THERE.

Tapi really likes Back to the Future.

Yaaaay Men in Black! *A*

Then we went to watch Beetlejeuse's (I used to know how to spell that, but I'm so sleepy...) show.

Tapi had made a new friend.

So they watched the show together.

"Step back! I have a sword and I'm not afraid to use it!"
That's a plastic sword, Tapi.
"So?"

... Huh. Thanks for clearing that up. I wasn't sure if that was a wall or not.

So sad we missed this, it sounded like fun. ;^;

"Look mommy, I'm a star!"
Sure you are, dear.

We missed this, too. FOR FIVE MINUTES. Ugh.

"OM NOM NOM"
TAPI, NO. :T

Then we switched hotels because after that we'd be going to Disney parks so we moved into a Disney resort. We were going to Disney's All Star Music, but we got transferred to Disney's Boardwalk Resort instead for whatever reason. I'm not complaining! 8D

See why I'm not complaining?

Tapi has some hot chocolate before we start the day.

Next stop, Animal Kingdom!

Tapi really wanted to see this movie, being a bug and all. I had no objections, since I <3 it.

Looking good, buddy!
"Really? *3*"

"Hi mommy! :D"
AAAH MY BABY! D:

I think these are a little too big for you, Tapi.

At Flight of Wonder...

Now, the next three photos don't include Tapi HOWEVER I was picked as a volunteer to participate in the show and I can't just not show these off. =p Enjoy~

Words cannot describe how happy I was to be chosen, specially for something involving an owl!

So we had lunch and got on a little boat to move to Magic Kingdom. It sucks that we had only one day to do both parks, and we missed out on A LOT, but oh well. :/ Stupid resort cost us one day...

Wait, I thought they had already begun!

Very few photos here in this park because it was getting dark and hard to take photos.

Tapi at the Haunted House. He was so brave!

Tapi waiting at the entrance of Disney's Phillarmagic.

Looking stylish.

At the Mad Tea Party~ :D

The restaurant we had dinner at that night.

It had a view to one of the attractions! xD Who would have thought.

The castle looked so pretty all lit up at night...

POOH!

I mean... Next day was Epcot.

NOW PREPARE FOR SOME ADORABLENESS.

This precious little butterfly flew right onto Tapi! She must have confused him with a flower, or perhaps she knows how to recognize a fellow bug. >3<

The one on my fingers is a different one, that first one had flied away by now. Tapi wants to meet this one too, though!

"Is that... a Butterfree? *A*"
Haha, no Tapi. That's a bunch of flowers. Silly~

After all that stuff above, we had lunch, then Tapi and I headed to Japan~ Or... The Japan part of Epcot. You know what I mean.

Hmm, something's not right here...

Then it got dark so we watched the fireworks and left. D: But don't worry, Tapi and I went back there another day, just the two of us, so we could take photos of the other countries. At Epcot was also where I met one of the sweetest girls who wanted to know about Tapi. I'm a moron and didn't ask her name, but she came to talk about how amazing she thought that she found someone older than 12 who liked Pokemon and wasn't afraid to admit it. I told her we're shy, so she said that we hide in the tall grass. Epic! xD She was great. We talked for a bit before she left to go looking for her mother. Who apparently didn't wanna wait for her to finish talking about Pokemon, oops!

BUT BEFORE THAT WE WENT TO HOLLYWOOD STUDIOS. Ok.

GIANT HAAAAAAT.

"Look mommy, it fits just right!"
Haha, aww~

At the Muppets 3D~

"I'm siiiinging in the raaaaain, just siiiinging in the raaaain, I... I... Mommy, I don't know the rest of the lyrics! ;A;"
Aww, don't be sad, you did good!

DUM DUM DUUM DUUM DUM DUM DUM DUM DUUUUUM, DUUUUUM DUUUUUM DUUUUUUM DUUUM DUM DUM DUUM DUUM DUUUUUUUM.... That doesn't translate well into text does it?

One last photo at the Star Wars gift shop before we left. We had several people either ask about Tapi (like specially where I got him xD) through the parks, but this attraction wins the prize! 3 staff members loved him, haha. One was the guy that organized the line into rows, he started talking about Pokemon with me and forgot to do his job, haha. Oops! Then a girl at the gift shop was excited about Tapi so she yelled for another guy who also worked there going like "HEY, COME HERE! SHE HAS A CATERPIE!" and he came running. xD He had a Stitch dressed up and he had the two of them battle, haha. So much fun! Loved those guys.

"Mommy! Do we have to watch this show? It's soooo girly! D:"

"Now that's better!"
Haha, well, I thought the Beauty and the Beast musical was kind of weird too, so that's ok. I found the story a bit rushed, also lol Gaston just plain gets tired and leaves. xDDD

OH NO I LOST TAPI... Oh there he is.

At the Toy Story attraction, it was so much fun!

Waiting for Phantasmic to start. It was a long wait, but the hosts helped make it a bit more fun... Just for me though, my parents and my cousin didn't enjoy at all, since they couldn't understand what they said. ^^;

Returning to the hotel, I thought it looked pretty all lit up~

Tapi wanted to make sure I showed you guys that this fancy hotel is creepy too at night. Not so much in the day because everything is so well lit. xD

The next photos are from the last day of the trip, when Tapi and I went back to Epcot for photos of the countries and some moar flowerness. Enjoy~

Words cannot describe the sadness I felt at that moment, when it finally hit me that it was my last day there, and it was over. I had to go back to the hotel to finish packing, and then we were going back home. Back to the routine and all the magiclessness. Yes that is a word shut up. The point is, I was depressed then.

We could already see the hotel... =c

Bye bye Epcot, bye bye all parks! Bye bye Orlando, and awesome trip... I'll miss that place so bad.

Being silly on the plane.

Tapi very much enjoys hanging around my purse.

"Ta-da! o3o"

Eating a little something...

And getting some sleep...

And with that, our amazing trip to the US was over. We went back home, and I nearly died trying to catch up with college. Oh, how I miss Orlando...

Well, that was it, guys! I'm sorry I didn't have captions for all photos, but it is A LOT of photos (and I didn't even post all the ones I took!), and I'm really tired. It's past 2am right now, but I knew if I didn't finish this post tonight it'd probably wait another whole month before I could do it. @_@; I can't believe it's been a month already since we got back! Oh, how I miss it there...

Either way, thank you very much for reading/looking at the photos! I hope you enjoyed it. C= YOU BETTER ENJOY IT BECAUSE IT TOOK SO LONG TO PUT THIS TOGETHER
