Ridiculous thoughts
No, this post is NOT about the Cranberries song, or the video Elwood did for it. Sorry. This is a hopeful, and therefore ridiculous, post about the Illinois Senate race. Eeew, politics! ;)
Both of the candidates who won in yesterday's primary are attractive, intelligent, articulate and thoughtful. Both seem to have a sense of humor and a likeable personality. Both appear to be Good People. So--what if they both were to conduct a campaign based on their beliefs and ideas about issues that really matter? What if the level of debate was consistently high, without any lowball personal attacks? What if the media stopped trying to dig up Jack Ryan's sealed divorce records from actress Jeri Ryan, and allowed the candidates to focus on presenting their ideas and beliefs to the public? And the public went along? Wouldn't that be wonderful?
As I said, ridiculous thoughts.
