I have a feeling that I am not the only person in the fandom who is a bit melancholy in the wake of Sunday's Oscar sweep. The "is that all there is?" and "so, now what?" aftermath of a glorious ride. It is strange that people aren't thrilled to see history as it happens, hmmmm? In 30 years, film students will be trying to pick apart the LotR movies, trying to understand what made them so great. But for now, the celebrity-watchers and the film snobs just don't seem to get it. *shrugs*

:^D What amazes me is that the Academy suddenly seems to have developed superior intellect and excellent taste in films, after that ABM debacle. ;^) Suddenly, now that they agree with me, I'm willing to consider their opinion relevant. ;^D

That, and they have to stop inviting Julia Roberts. Then I'll take the Academy seriously. :-p

Nice try, with the 11 Oscars and such, but there Julia still was. So close to perfection, and yet...

To take this to the next logical step, they should stop inviting all the actors who always play themselves: Roberts, Nicholson, Cruise, to name the top offenders.

Katharine Hepburn always played Katharine Hepburn: but Katharine Hepburn is such a cool thing to be. Being Tom Cruise must be appalling.
