Mac OS X's Mail.app has a very strange quirk.
Select a message. Hold down Shift and hit down-arrow. The message below becomes selected as well. Hit Page Down (while still holding down shift) and a bunch more messages become selected. All fairly standard so far.
Now, imagine that you have gone one message too far. On every other mail client in the world, you hit up-arrow and the bottom message becomes unselected. The bottom edge of the range behaves like a cursor that you're manipulating with the arrow keys, Page Up/Down, etc.
On Mail.app, the message ABOVE your initial selection becomes selected. So there's no easy way to correct an accidental overshoot - you can only expand the range.
This makes Mail.app unusable for me.
Presumably, it's that way for a reason, but I can't think of it. What about you guys?
