Computers: Making Easy Things Possible

I'm looking for recommendations for Windows programs to perform the following tasks:
DVD burning
Disk imaging

I could just buy Nero and Ghost, but neither of these tasks is terribly difficult softwarily, so there should be decent free programs available.
