i had a marvelous morning at church--i've been playing flute at 10:30 mass for about a month now. anyhow, today was exceptionally good as i was playing flute with Jerilyn (who teaches music at st. thomas) and we had a great arrangement of "Make me a channel of your Peace--Prayer of St. Francis and both of us were really on the mark so it sounded really lovely with our duet and organ and the cantor. especially the refrain:
"oh Master, grant that I may never seek
so much to be consoled as to console
to be understood as to understand
to be loved as to love with all my soul"
we had a lot of compliments afterwards from the congregation. it was so nice to be appreciated. mark is an awesome music director, he's such a fun music nerd.
i also ran across one of the girls from olaf at church, Katie, a Spanish major, who was a year behind me. apparently, she just got done volunteering with nuns in New Mexico and is now living in the discernment house at st. thomas for a year trying to decide if she herself wants to be a nun.
let if never be said that i do not know a wide variety of people with a wide variety of interests and life goals.
