Movies watched in 2012 - part 2

The Avengers
All hail Joss! Who would have thought back in 1997 that Joss Whedon would direct one of the highest-grossing movies ever? Well, I did, of course ;) And every other Whedon-verse fan, too. Whether it was Buffy, Angel or Firefly Joss was always great with characters and their development. That's also so with the Avengers. It's an actual ensamble work and not Iron Man 3 (as was feared by some before the movie came out). Though Robert Downey jr does stand out of the cast.
The action is also pretty nicely done, Loki is a great bad guy (someone you love to hate) and the movie is just fun to watch. I also love the fact that all the Marvel-verse movies (Iron Man 1 and 2, Thor, Captain America and the Avengers) tie in together so well.
While this isn't a movie I want to rewatch regularl (so no DVD for me), I am looking forward to part 2 (and hey, that's only two years away).

Dark Shadows
I almost didn't watch the movie because the premise seemed so ridiculous plus it was based on some weird old tv show I had never heard about. Thankfully a friend watches everything with Johnny Depp in it and made me join her on one of the last possible dates.
I loved that the movie wasn't set today but in the 70s with the clothes, the music, the cars and everything else. Johnny Depp didn't make quite as sexy a vampire as Spike but he was oh so much better than Edward and the other sparklepires.
I loved the open end with Helena Bonham Carter quite possibly succeeding in turning herself into a vampire via blood transfusions from Barnabas.
The sex scene between Barnabas and the witch was one of the strangest things I've ever seen ^.^
I for one liked Tim Burton doing a vampire movie.

Men in Black 3
I liked this movie much more than the third one. It was a very good idea from both Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones to wait for a good script before doing another part.
I'm in general a fan of time travel, so the story was all to my liking. Josh Brolin played a great younger Agent K (and also looked eerily like Tommy Lee Jones) and it was lovely to see him so much happier.
Griffin was a cool character. Being able to see the future in this particular way was very well done. And the revelation that K already knew J when he was only a kid was kind of heartbreaking.
I also heard that they are considering another part for the franchise, which I am all for :)
