Ahhh.....

Quite the night.

I did fairly well in Jiu-Jitsu. I fought my ass off in several fights. That made me feel good. Especially since they were against a purple belt that usually stomps me. I definitely gave him second thoughts tonight.

I came home, showered, went grocery shopping, and bought only healthy food. Yay me.

I then came BACK home, enjoyed a nightcap, some AMAZING white cheddar and Breighton crackers.

I've also been listening to Diana Krall albums all day. So nice.

I'm also VERY close to finalizing the financial rearrangements so that I can purchase a home (or at least apply for a mortgage).

And now, due to its well-received response, will be the second installment of Joel's Idiosyncratic Games. This installment will focus mostly on car games - those being games that I play while riding or driving in a automobile.

The first is this: If I am riding in a car, and nothing is really going on, I will usually trace the horizon with my eyes. This is not just done by looking at it, but by using those little dots only you can see. Everyone has seen them. They look like the cells you see under a microscope and they're all but completely transparent. Well I use those to trace every far off tree, power line, house, hill, and fence. Note, in the previous sentence, that I also use the words "far off." Obviously, this game does not work in town or suburbia. You'd go insane. A much more beneficial environment would be on the highway or interstate.

Second: This one is also for riding. Do you remember the game Sonic the Hedgehog for Sega Genesis system? If not, come over and play it because you've clearly missed out on a piece of American History. And by American History, I mean my childhood. Hours, days, and possibly weeks of my childhood. Anyways... Sonic, besides being able to run faster than sound (340.29 m / s? If you've ever seen a ground hog, you know this is ridiculous. Even in provoked. I've tried) was also able to roll into a ball (much like a real hedgehog) and travel in such a fashion by rolling (much UNlike a real hedgehog). I often imagine that such a hedgehog is rolling in the ditch beside the car I'm traveling in and its then forced to "ramp" the embankments of driveways, intersections, and the like. Its not so much the rolling part thats important, as the proper trajectory and finding where said "hedgehog" is going to land. Its an interesting game that probably only fascinates me because I only did about 900 physics problems in regard to such a thing. 2 1/3 years of physics will do that do a person.

Third: Is a game played with shadows on the road. Obviously, this game can only be played during certain times of the day. It can also be played while driving or riding, it matters not. Basically, when you're just sitting, your hand is resting on something - your leg, the steering wheels, an arm rest, whatever. Also since, your arm is resting there and most humans still have their opposable thumbs (whether or not they deserve them), their thumbs are also resting on something. The game is played with said thumb. When one approaches a shadow on a road, one would need to anticipate when the shadow would be over some part of your body if you were in say, an invisible car. Once you've reached a point where the the shadow would be touching you, you lift your thumb from on whatever it is resting. After the shadow would no longer be touching your body, you are then free to replace your thumb on whatever it was resting prior. Of course, this happens very quickly. When one is driving down a road, there are often many shadows and it kinda looks like your thumb is sending some sort of epileptic morse code.

A popular variation of that game is played in cars that have antennas (antennae? whatev). Only you play as if a line or laser it being emitted in a line out of the tip of the antenna. The only difference is that instead of shadows, you use power lines. The idea being that you are not to cut the power lines with the line/laser being emitted strait out of the antenna. Obviously, this is an impossible task. No one could ever be that accurate (since the game is to get as close to the power lines without cutting them). However, it IS something to keep my mind busy.

Good grief, these are insane. I'm sorry. I'm really tired. I wish I could make them more entertaining to read. Maybe I'll come back tomorrow and fix that. Yeah, thats what I want to do with my Friday night!! That and an accounting party.

P.S. I had a rather vivid and telling dream this week. I'll be sure to document it and the interpretations thereof, in a later entry.
