Fanfic Music meme 10 in 10 The Closer

Sep 18, 2010 18:22

1. Pick a character, fandom, pairing, friendship, whatever.
2. Put on your music program on shuffle/random and start playing songs.
3. For each song, write something inspired by the song related to the theme you chose earlier. You only have the song length. No pre-planning and no writing after the song is over. No skipping songs either.
4. Do 10 songs and post. Make sure to include the song name/artist.

Well, I've been working on The Closer fanfic, and when I seen this meme at bau_fic , I thought I'd apply it to The Closer. So, it's a whole lot harder to do than I expected, coming up with something in that short of time. Anyway, the pairings are Brenda/Flynn, Brenda/Fritz, Brenda, Andy.  The fics are mostly angsty, and have a pretty general rating. No spoilers for those who've seen up to 610.

21 guns - Green Day

Brenda felt like she was suffocating under the weight of everything. The loss of the Chief of Police position, working with Fritz all the time, Pope worrying he was going to lose his job. Everything revolved around her, pressuring her. She felt like throwing her arms up in the air and running away screaming. She had no control and she felt like she was breaking. Her faith in herself was gone .

And then she felt Flynn's eyes on her. When he smiled at her, she felt something stir within, and with that came some relief. Realizing someone still had faith in her, she felt she could go on. No matter how close she came to the edge, he'd pulled her back with that one smile. So, she picked herself up and moved on.

Her Diamonds - Rob Thomas

Brenda looked at the diamond ring on her finger, twisting it off. Fritz and her had fought again, and she couldn't take anymore. Hot tears flooded her eyes, this fight had been the worst they'd had in a long time, and he'd left, didn't know if he was coming back. She sat down, staring into nowhere. She turned the ring over and over in her hands, crying as she did so. She'd tried her best, but it hadn't worked. Another failure on her part.

Save the Last Dance - Michael Buble

Brenda hadn't wanted to come to the big dance that had been planned for the new Chief of Police, but Fritz had convinced her to go, for her career's sake. Most everyone she worked with was there, even Lt. Flynn. Somehow, she found herself dancing with him most of the night, and for the first time in a long time, Brenda found herself enjoying the evening. She hardly left his side the whole night. As the evening wore on, Fritz became more annoyed, finally breaking in on them, whispering for her to save the last dance for him. Brenda promised, but when the time came, she wished she was still dancing with Flynn. And she had the feeling that Fritz knew that too.

Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash

Andy Flynn had fallen for his Chief. He felt like he was being burned, that he was going to go to hell for wanting a married woman. His heart burned for her, his body burned for her. He knew she felt the same about him, but wouldn't act on it. No matter how wild the fire was that ran through his body, he knew it was not to be. Knowing this, he felt consumed by it. The fire would keep burning, he had no way to extinguish it.

2 a.m. - Anna Nalick

Brenda cradled her head in her hands, reminding herself to just breathe. It was 2 a.m, she sat at her desk, not being able to put the latest case behind her. She knew she had to get home, but couldn't quite yet. She wasn't the only one still there though. Flynn had stayed, and she watched him at his desk. He looked up and caught her looking at him. He smiled at her, and maybe it was the time of the morning, the latest case, but it took her breath away. His smile was beautiful, she noticed for the first time. Again she thought to herself, just breathe. She dropped her eyes from his, got up and got ready to go home.

Come back to me- David Cook

Andy knew that things between Brenda and him had been rocky for awhile, but he loved her more than he could tell her. And after their latest fight, she'd told him she couldn't deal with it anymore. No one knew about their affair, and she liked it that way. But Fritz and her had decided to make a go of it again, and she felt she owed him that. So, Andy let her go, let her go back to her ex. But as she left, he told her that he'd still be here, waiting for her when she finally figured things out. He knew in his heart of hearts, she'd come back to him. And in the end, she did.

My Life would suck without you-Kelly Clarkson

Brenda and Andy had fought again. It had been a big fight, he'd told her that he wanted anyone but her, they were through. Yet, here he was at her door, and she was glad. They belonged together, he had a piece of her heart and she his. When they fought, she'd walked out. They were two messed up individuals who completed one another. As Brenda let him into the house, all she could think was that her life sucked without him, and she'd rather be in a dysfunctional relationship with him than be without him at all. With that, she kissed him, and the fight was quickly forgotten.

Mr. Brightside - The Killers

Andy watched his Chief with her husband, in her office, giving him a quick kiss before the FBI guy turned to leave. Seeing the kiss made Andy feel sick to his stomach. He wanted her so badly, he was tempted to march in there and kiss her himself. But no, he stayed where he was. His mind tormented him, images filling it of Brenda and her husband doing things that Andy wanted to do with her. Jealousy filled him, he slammed his coffee cup down, got up and walked out. He looked at the brightside, however, that it would be a thousand times worse if he'd ever kissed the Chief and knew what he really was missing out on. That would kill him.

For You - The Barenaked Ladies

Brenda was filled with doubt about her marriage with Fritz. Since he'd become the liaison to the LAPD, they had had a rocky time. Working together should have brought them closer, except the opposite was true, it was splitting them apart. She looked into a shoebox that she kept full of mementos from their relationship, fingering photographs and flowers that she kept in there. He didn't know about the box, didn't know she cherished their moments together. He thought she didn't really care. Some days Brenda had to open the box to remind herself of why she stayed, of why she loved Fritz. The problem was, what Brenda could give wasn't as much as what Fritz needed. And she didn't know how to fix that.

Wash Away - Joe Purdy

Brenda stood at the shore, watching the waves crash against the beach. She liked to think she was letting her troubles go, that they were washing away with the tide. Her team came up behind her, standing with her, letting them know they were there for her, that she'd been crying for her lost husband. She told herself she wasn't going to cry anymore, turned and hooked arms with Gabriel and Flynn, leaving the beach. They were her family, there for her. She wasn't going to cry anymore, at least not today.
