Typhoon Aftermath

Sep 28, 2009 01:04

I've seen a ton of videos regarding the Typhoon Ondoy devastation in Manila, and it's very disturbing. I actually wouldn't have known about it if not for Twitter & Facebook.

It's hard to live your day to day life, knowing that back in the Philippines, there are thousands of displaced people because of the typhoon. Hundreds are dying, there are still people who are in their rooftops waiting to be rescued.

I've been on Twitter for the most part (catdecember), helping RT (retweet) various news and information, but please spread the word:

Help for Typhoon Ondoy Victims : http://sites.google.com/site/ondoymanila/home

For monetary support : please donate thru paypal and TXTPOWER.ORG - Philippine Red Cross is currently working on getting their link fixed for online donations.

Other ways to donate : http://www.redcross.org.ph/Site/PNRC/wtd.aspx

Unfortunately, there are people taking advantage of this situation and are scamming people who want to donate. It is advised to go thru Philippine National Red Cross, ABS-CBN, GMA 7 to donate.

It is also said that in California, supermarket chain Island Pacific will be accepting good donations to send immediately to the Philippines. I will confirm this tomorrow and get more details.

Like I've said, help spread the word.

May I suggest - to follow on Twitter :

@philredcross, @miriamq , @patriciahizon, @smeieralbano, @divasoria, @robangeles, @iamsuperbianca

Will update soon.

Keep the Bayanihan spirit alive.
